Set up in the Autumn of 1992 as Surrey Horsewatch, a partnership with Surrey Police providing support to horse owners and riders throughout the county.

Some years later, the scheme with a broadened remit and a new name, became Surrey Action For Equine (S.A.F.E. for short).

We cover diverse equine issues such as finding & contacting owners of straying horses. Offer assistance to victims of equine crime from theft of equine, vehicles & equipment to unexplained equine injury.

We adopt a partnership approach with Police & Borough Council for the disposal of dead, abandoned equine carcass.

Calls received are varied, many made when the caller is feeling particularly vulnerable. A scheme such as S.A.F.E. is there to address fears, offer support and provide information and help!!

We operate on a totally voluntary basis and are very pleased to be able to do so. However,  maintaining such a level of service  and funding our work is an ongoing challenge. If you would like to find out how you can support ''''SAFE'''' please do not hesitate to contact us.
